Privacy Policy

Data we collect

• Account info: your email address and display name once you upgrade from an anonymous account. Anonymous accounts are identified only by a randomly generated user ID.
• Your dog's profile: name, breed, age, weight, sex, allergies, behavior history, training goals, and any answers you give in the onboarding questionnaire.
• Chat history: messages you exchange with Coach Calvin or Coach Danielle, plus any quiz answers and training logs.
• Journal entries: mood scores, weight, training minutes, and behavior notes you log for your dog.
• Diagnostics: device model, operating system version, app version, anonymised crash reports.
• Purchases (future): when paid plans ship, we will store the fact and tier of your subscription. Card details are handled by Google Play and never touch our servers.

How we use it

• Personalised coaching: your dog's profile is sent with each chat to the AI model so the response is specific to your dog.
• Progress tracking: journal entries power the Day 30 and Day 90 reassessments and the in-app charts.
• Bug fixing: diagnostics help us identify and fix crashes. We never include personally identifying content in crash reports.
• Service improvement: aggregated, anonymised usage patterns help us decide what to build next. We do not sell your data, ever.

Third-party services

Dawg relies on a small number of trusted third parties. Each one handles only the data it needs.

• Google Firebase -- authentication, dog-profile cloud sync, crash reporting, and analytics.
• Anthropic -- runs the Claude AI model that powers Coach Calvin and Coach Danielle. Chat content is sent to Anthropic; chat data is not used to train the underlying model.
• Cloudflare -- hosts our backend Worker that routes chat requests and serves this website.
• Google Play Billing (future) -- handles subscription payments. Card details never touch our servers.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, we permanently remove your profile, your dog's data, all chat history, and all journal entries within 30 days. Backups are encrypted and rotated out within 90 days.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
• Delete your account and have your data removed.
• Opt out of crash diagnostics from the Settings screen.

Under the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California) you have additional rights including the right to data portability and to object to certain processing. Email privacy@dawg.city and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Dawg is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email privacy@dawg.city and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we'll notify you in-app and update the "Last updated" date above.
